Church Services

At St Mary’s we have a strong lay involvement in Church life and our "Worship Group" help regularly with services. Lay people lead Matins each month and at other special services, and they also help lead prayers and provide readers for all services.

The Church of St. Mary the Virgin

Some parishioners like the calm familiarity of the Book of Common Prayer, with New English Hymnal hymns; whilst others prefer more modern styles of worship and we try an accommodate everyone's preferences, as far as we can. Each year we have an outdoor "Rogation Service" which alternates between the villages.

We use a modern electric organ for most Services but also have a pipe organ. St Mary’s enjoys the benefit of an adult, robed, choir, which currently numbers 15 members. The Choir (which was formed over 20 years ago) practices each week for the forthcoming service, but only sings formally for Festivals and special services, and sings at weddings throughout the Parish Group. Many choir members are also active in all aspects of church & village life and add to pastoral support in the Parish. The Pillertons actively supports the Children's Holiday Club, Toddler Group, Youth Group (G.I.F.T.) and School visits.

Everyone, of any age, is always welcome at any of our services.
